Spring Programme 2017

Indoor meetings begin at 7.30 pm in the Hall, Holy Trinity RC Church, Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield, unless otherwise stated. Outdoor meetings normally end by 4.30-5 pm, but finishing times and distances of outdoor meetings are approximate.

Please check with the Secretary or the Leader before attending an outdoor meeting, since these may have to be cancelled or changed.

Please feel free to contact the Secretary if you have any queries or have difficulty in getting to a meeting.

Sat, 11 Mar 2017 Visit to Winterbourne Garden (& House). Meet at 1pm outside or in the lobby. The garden is located in Edgbaston Park Road, post code B15 2RT, grid ref. . Coming down the Bristol Road from the centre of Birmingham, turn right for the University but continue past its entrance; the garden is on the right-hand side. It's about a 15 minute walk from University Station. Leader: Vic Parslow.
Thu, 23 Mar 2017 6 pm for 6:30 pm. Annual Dinner at the Country Kitchen, (in Moor Hall Drive, off Little Sutton Lane or Weeford Road, Sutton Coldfield). Cost per head £15. Members are welcome to bring a guest. Bookings to Kate Ashcroft at the February meeting or as soon as possible afterwards, please.

Sun, 23 Apr 2017 Visit to Woodgate Valley Country Park. Meet at 2pm at the car park of the Visitor Centre, off Clapgate Lane, Bartley Green B32 3DS, grid ref. . Directions will be available at the April meeting, but note that there is no direct access to Clapgate Lane from the M5 Junction 3. Leader: Peter Coxhead.
Thu, 11 May 2017 “New Zealand” by Jeff Croft (he will also have garden plants for sale)
Sat, 13 May 2017 Visit to Ufton Fields and Draycote Meadows, two Warwicks Wildlife Trust reserves. Meet at 11am in the car park of the Ufton Fields reserve, which is about a third of a mile south of Ufton Southam, CV33 9PU, grid ref. . Bring lunch; we'll move on to Draycote Meadows, where there is limited parking. Leader: Peter Coxhead.
Thu, 8 Jun 2017 Evening meeting – walk at Lichfield with trees as a particular interest, taking in Minster Pool, the Memorial Garden and Festival Gardens. Meet at 7pm on Dam Street, at the “speakers’ corner” end of Minster Pool (grid ref. ). Parking is available in Bird Street pay and display car park or there is some limited on-street car parking nearby. Leader: Mich Moore.
Sat, 8 Jul 2017 Summer walk at Upton Warren, particularly to see the avocets. Meet in Webb's Garden Centre at 2pm (lunch is available there beforehand). The address of the garden centre is Worcester Road, Droitwich WR9 0DG, grid ref. . Leader: Lilian Holmes.

Visitors are welcome at any meeting, indoors or out. A nominal charge of £2.50 is made for an indoor meeting.
