Spring Programme 2012

Indoor meetings begin at 7.30 pm in the Lounge of the , South Parade, unless otherwise stated. Outdoor meetings normally end by 4.30-5 pm, but finishing times and distances of outdoor meetings are approximate.

Please check with the Secretary or the Leader before attending an outdoor meeting, since these may have to be cancelled or changed.

Please feel free to contact the Secretary if you have any queries or have difficulty in getting to a meeting.

Fri, 3 Feb 2012 “Birds of Ecuador” by John and Denise Allen
Sat, 4 Feb 2012 Visit to the Wolseley Centre, headquarters of the Staffs Wildlife Trust. Meet at 2 pm at the centre. Map ref. OS128: . This is a 26 acre site with lakes, woodland, riverside, etc.; easy walking. (Refreshments available afterwards at the adjacent Wyevale Garden Centre.) Leader: Mich Moore.
Fri, 2 Mar 2012 “Cats, Wildlife and Welfare” by Peter Jarvis
Sat, 3 Mar 2012 Walk along the Worcester & Birmingham Canal. We will be catching the train from Four Oaks station around 1:15 pm, walking along the canal, and then returning by train. Details will be available nearer the time, partly to allow for changes to train timetables. Leader: Peter Coxhead.
Thu, 15 Mar 2012 6 pm for 6:30 pm. Annual Dinner at the Country Kitchen, (in Moor Hall Drive, off Little Sutton Lane or Weeford Road, Sutton Coldfield). 6pm for 6:30pm. The cost will be £13 per person. Members are welcome to bring a guest. Bookings to Kate Ashcroft as soon as possible please.

Sat, 31 Mar 2012 Visit to George's Hays, a Staffs Wildlife Trust reserve: ancient woodland, daffodils in season. Meet at 2pm. Take the A51 out of Lichfield towards Rugeley. At Longdon village, turn left into Borough Lane, then left into Horsey Lane; the entrance to car park is then on the right. Map ref. OS128: (nearest postcode: WS15 4LW). Refreshments available afterwards at nearby garden centre café. Leader: Mich Moore.
Fri, 4 May 2012 “The Lichfield Cathedral Close Wildlife Project” by Pete Norbury
Sun, 6 May 2012 Walk in the New Park Wood area. Meet at 2 pm. Coming from Bassetts Pole on the A446 (London Road), pass the turn to Middleton (Coppice Lane), and then stop in the second layby on the left-hand side of the road. There is a speed camera at the beginning of the layby. OS139: . There is limited parking in the layby. Easy walking but there are stiles. Leader: Peter Coxhead.

Visitors are welcome at any meeting, indoors or out. A nominal charge of £1 is made for an indoor meeting.
